Size of the Grand Dive
How Big is the Grand Dive
The Grand Dive is 9' x 40", at least that is what the specifications say!  Actually, the chamber measures 10' in length tip to tip when inflated.  The 9' length does not account for the rounded ends which provide 6" more space on each side.  In addition, the chamber also takes up about 6 more inches of floor space width-wide due to the attached bolsters on the side of the chamber.  So, when considering the Grand Dive as a unit for your home or office... Do not think you are going to squeeze it into a 9' 6" space.

Okay, so that's the actual measurements; but what does that equate to in terms of usable space.  Well, I am 6' 2" and I can sit up Indian style, fully erect without needing to round my back or lower my head in any way.  The chamber is large enough for two adults to sit up at opposite ends with their legs extended towards the middle or for two adults to lay at opposite ends with their legs off to opposite sides in the middle.  At our Wellness Center, we have had as much as a 6' 3" adult about 210 pounds with three children ages 8-9 do regular sessions.  Now, please note that the more bodies you put into any mild hyperbaric chamber in relation to the size of the chamber... The faster that unit is going to heat up.   You can do everything in the world to cool the incoming air, but at a certain point... It is just a battle you will not win.  Two adults comfortable, one adult and child comfortable, three people of any age; prepare to be warm!

From time to time the question about exercising in the Grand Dive comes up.  This chamber is large enough to fully extend your arms over your head, thus allowing for a number of yoga poses and pilates exercises to be done while inside the chamber.  Rows and other exercises can be facilitated with stretch cords.  Push ups can be done, but not with hands about shoulder width apart as most people are used to.  Personally, I believe the Grand Dive is excellent for doing core training; but I will keep my cardio and strength training for the road and gym.
